Child Development Education Pilot Program (CDEPP)

Goal: To provide high quality Child Development programs, available to all at-risk children in South Carolina, which will prepare them for kindergarten and success in subsequent grades, leading to graduation from high school.

Proviso 1.66: For the 2007-2008 school year, with funds appropriated by the General Assembly, CDEPP will made available to eligible children from the eight trial districts and remaining plaintiff districts in Abbeville County School District et. al. vs. South Carolina. During the implementation of the pilot program no funds appropriated by the General Assembly for this purpose may be used to fund services to at-risk four-year-old children residing outside of the trial or plaintiff districts.

Eligibility: Children must be four-years-old on or before September 1, 2007  and whose family incomes qualify them for either the free -or-reduced price lunch program or Medicaid.

 

Applications for Supplies & Materials

Equipment, material, and supply applications up to $10,000 may be awarded to new CDEPP programs.  Applications will be awarded on the basis of each classroom's SC Environmental Review. Application deadline is January 31, 2008. No applications will be accepted after this date.

Established CDEPP classrooms are eligible for up to $2,500 in supplies & materials. Funding will be given up to $1,000 as priority and then as funding is available another $1,500 will be given.

                                      DSS Training Hours

All staff must attain a minimum of 15 hours and directors must attain 20 hours of DSS training. The Center for Child Care Career Development (CCCCD) in Greenville, SC will track training hours of CDEPP programs.
